About The Position

The inpatient mental health unit at Children’s Minnesota in St. Paul is seeking child and adolescent psychiatric fellows who are interested in moonlighting opportunities. The inpatient mental health program offers a multi-disciplinary care team of psychiatrists, psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, child life therapists, mental health specialists, and music therapists. Care for youth from 6 years old and up to 18 years old, who are still in high school.

Requirements

Must have an M.D. or D.O.
BE/BC in Pediatrics from the American Board of Pediatrics or BE/BC in Psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Currently enrolled in a Board BE/BC Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship program.
Ability to be successfully credentialed by both Hospital and 3rd Party Payers.

Responsibilities

Function as an attending physician for on-call purposes.
Review admissions with charge RN by phone overnight.
Place orders in the EMR for admissions until 10pm.
Respond to pages/calls from nursing regarding needs for existing patients.
Perform in-person rounds on Saturday/Sunday.
See and round upon all patients on the inpatient psychiatric unit with a note authored at least once over the weekend.
Prioritize admissions/discharges/patients with defined needs each weekend day (or holiday).
Provide coverage by phone after leaving the unit, unless a significant issue warrants returning in person.
Complete admission orders prior to 9:30pm by logging into EMR and placing orders.
Provide consultative support by phone or in person if it aligns with rounds or if a significant issue warrants support.
Contact the hospitalist and request medical consultation support on the inpatient mental health unit when needed.
