About The Position

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking a Child Protective Services Case Aide. This role is crucial for supporting and reunifying families served by the Office of Child and Family Services – Child Welfare division. The position involves supervising visits, providing support in placements, transporting clients, making referrals to services, entering documentation into the Child Welfare information system (Katahdin), maintaining legal records, and serving court paperwork. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills, and will be a collaborative team member focused on assisting, informing, and interacting with the public. This role requires significant travel within the local district office's service areas and may include occasional mandatory overtime.

Requirements

  • Training, education, or experience in office and client support work demonstrating competency in applying a proficient knowledge of the principles and practices in assisting management with policies and procedures
  • Ability to use independent judgment, initiative, and decision-making on complex administrative and direct service activities
  • Possession of a valid Class C Maine Motor Vehicle Operator's License

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with medical records or work in the medical or mental health field
  • Skilled in the use of standard work-place applications (MS Word, EXCEL, Outlook, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Supervise visits between children and their parents
  • Sit with children in hotel and hospital placement
  • Transport clients for various visits and appointments
  • Make referrals to connect children, parents, and family members with needed services
  • Enter documentation into the Child Welfare information system, Katahdin
  • Maintain legal records
  • Serve court paperwork
