About The Position
The primary focus of this role, referred to as the "brain," is to review investigations received through the Florida Abuse Hotline. The goal is to ensure that critical information is provided to the Child Protective Investigator (CPI) and Child Protective Investigator Supervisor (CPIS) during the investigation. This role assists in identifying and facilitating the collection of necessary information for assessment. The Pre-Commencement consultation aims to facilitate critical thinking with the CPI and CPI Supervisor regarding information collection, assessment of parental protective capacities, safety planning, and safety determination. If additional information is identified during consultations, the "brain" will request and review pertinent records for family assessment. This role is also responsible for coordinating appointments that impact family assessment, such as those with the Child Protection Team and/or referrals to service providers. During the investigative process, the "brain" will meet with the CPI, CPI Supervisor, and potentially the Operations Program Administrator to elevate concerns based on record reviews or additional information. The "brain" will be co-located with Investigative staff to support a minimum of two (2) CPI Investigative units, but will report directly to the Family Safety Program Office to ensure trends and observations are incorporated into ongoing Training and Quality Assurance activities. This position reports directly to Operations in the Service Center to which they are assigned.
Requirements
- Knowledgeable in Florida's Child Welfare system.

- Highly organized and have the ability to multi-task and coordinate and follow up on multiple activities.
- Must have the ability to create and enhance relationships with partners and stakeholders in order to ensure open communication and collaboration in various settings and situations.
- Well versed in a variety of programs such as FSFN, Word, Excel and Access to ensure that data is collected and analyzed on a consistent basis.
Responsibilities
- Supervises support staff to assist in coordinating referrals, appointments, record retrieval etc.
- Conducts Pre-Commencement consultations and reviews prior FSFN and Law Enforcement records.
- Manages Record Requests including but not limited to: school records, Law Enforcement reports, medical records, prior provider records and/or assessments etc.
- Performs Surgical Review of retrieved records to assist in assessment and decision making for each case assigned to the Units they are assigned to.
- Provides In-Depth interpretation of records to ensure an assessment is made in conjunction with Florida's current practice models.
- Flags and tracks High Risk cases, and ensures seamless investigative activities.
- Consults with the CPIs, and ensures written referrals are completed for the identified services and/or supports requested by the CPI or CPIS.
- Coordinates OTI/OTI transfer requests.
- Coordinates staffing as needed such as 2nd Tier, Substance Exposed Newborns, Multi-Disciplinary, Legal Sufficiency, Rapid Safety Feedback, etc.
- Coordinates Subject Matter Experts to assist CPI in decision making.
