About The Position

The Child Protection Officer will be responsible for the daily follow-up of Child Protection (CP) activities, providing support to implementing partners, and leading direct implementation in the field. The Child Protection program involves establishing and expanding psychosocial programming with children and youth, building capacity and supporting caregivers, and coordinating with community stakeholders and local authorities to implement community initiatives addressing CP issues. The Child Protection Officer must ensure all work aligns with Save the Children’s (SCI) Policies. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder may be expected to work outside the normal role profile and vary working hours accordingly. This role has a Child Safeguarding Level 3, indicating frequent or intensive contact with children and/or young people.

Requirements

  • Master degree in Social Work, psychology or other related studies.
  • Or Bachelor degree with at least 3 years of professional experience in the field of Child Protection.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in the Child Protection field with at least 2 years in a similar officer-level role.
  • At least one year of experience working with international NGOs.
  • Experience in PsychoSocial Support programming, community mobilisation and coordination with local authorities in North Lebanon and Akkar.
  • Ability to write weekly and monthly reports.
  • Strong knowledge of the humanitarian context on North Lebanon and Akkar.
  • Experience in team leading and handling programmes action plans.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of project's monthly and weekly work plans.
  • Provide guidance and support to direct reports to accomplish tasks.
  • Liaise with Supply chain, Finance and HR to ensure sufficient support to field activities.
  • Lead the implementation of needs assessment interviews.
  • Monitor progress and solve issues interrupting activity implementation.
  • Lead the implementation of field activities related to community engagement, including round table discussions, workshops, and other events.
  • Ensure SCI accountability systems are followed by field staff.
  • Conduct field visits to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Produce weekly and monthly quantitative and qualitative reports for internal use.
  • Ensure program interventions are informed by and integrated with other core sectors in SCI.
  • Provide technical and organizational training and coaching to direct reports.
  • Identify staffing needs based on implementation and the latest situation.
  • Lead and be part of the recruitment of new direct reports.
  • Identify staff capacity building needs.
  • Ensure all direct reports have clear performance and development objectives.
  • Provide daily support to partners' staff with technical and operational support.
  • Monitor partners' activities implementation and ensure high-quality standards.
  • Verify partners' reports by validating them against SC internal reporting mechanisms.
  • Support in documenting efforts and work done with partners to build their capacity on CP intervention.
  • Assess partners' knowledge and needs on CP level to ensure proper capacity building.
  • Document best practices and case studies for reporting, advocacy, and media efforts.
  • Conduct training for partners' staff.
  • Ensure activities are developed in coordination with relevant local authorities and key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders, partners, and local authorities.
  • Represent SCI in CP working group and taskforce meetings.
  • Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
  • Uphold high standards of integrity and transparency, and comply with SCI’s Anti-Fraud and Corruption Policy.
  • Carry out duties in accordance with SCI anti-harassment policy.
  • Carry out duties in accordance with SCI Health and Safety policies and procedures.
