About The Position

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital is hiring an experienced Child Life Specialist for an onsite role supporting children in inpatient and outpatient settings. The specialist fosters children's emotional, developmental, intellectual, and physical well-being by creating a welcoming, nurturing environment. The role helps ensure comfort for patients and families through family-centered care and positive hospital community relations. The position is scheduled for 36 hours per week on the day shift.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Child Development.
• Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) credential.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Knowledge of infant, child, and adolescent growth and development.
• Strong teamwork and collaborative skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to adjust actions in relation to others' actions.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in Child Development.
• Child Life Certification Commission certification through the Association of Child Life Professionals.
• 0–1 year of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess children's responses to illness, hospitalization, and treatment.
• Respond to child life orders in a timely manner.
• Implement and enforce hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
• Develop family service plan goals based on assessed needs of families, parents, and children.
• Maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries.
• Participate with department leadership in developing performance standards.
• Communicate plans of care with multidisciplinary team members as appropriate.
