About The Position

The Child Life Specialist is responsible for providing patient care services for infants, toddlers, school age children, adolescents and their families. Fosters, encourages emotional wellbeing, cognitive developmental opportunities for young patients and their families. Promotes a family centered care that reduces stress, helps with coping, provides activities to normalize and encourage social interaction. Supports developmental integrity through play experiences by creating a safe environment. Orients hospital staff of the psychosocial needs of children and their families and fosters positive hospital community relations.

Requirements

  • Completion of Child Life Internship and eligible to sit for Certification Exam.
  • Eligible to become CPR certified.
  • CPI trained.
  • Trach Trained.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years' clinical experience in pediatric healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) – (per the Certifying Commission and Association for Child Life Professionals guidelines and requirements)
  • CPR certification.
