About The Position

Responsible for assisting management with supporting day to day operation of the child life department. Operations include scheduling, payroll and purchasing. All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference. Implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of existing services as well as new services within Children's Hospital. Provide quality child life/music therapy services to children and families in assigned work areas. Responsible for supporting Child Life activities including programs such as: art, music, and pet therapy, volunteer programs, community groups, donations, consults and bereavement. Leads team in day to day operations to include scheduling, payroll and purchasing. Provides information and educational resources regarding Child Life/Music Therapy to students, staff and community. Serves as a role model and leader in the child life/music therapy field; fosters collaboration and teamwork with staff and other organizations. Participates in continuing education to maintain license/certification as appropriate. Takes responsibility for self-development and stay current on legislative matters, external events and trends affecting Child Life/Music Therapy through seminars, reading, webinars, online education and other means. Assists in development of departmental budget through the budget cycle and monitors expenses throughout the fiscal year. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Music Therapy or related psychosocial program.
  • Five (5) years of experience in the Child Life Department, with certification required.
  • Demonstrated progressively responsible roles at academic children's hospital.
  • Certified Child Life Specialist or board-certified Music Therapist.
