About The Position

The Child Safety Program Technician provides system-wide support in the area of Child Passenger Safety (CPS). This position will provide injury prevention education and special needs transportation resources to patients at Randall Children’s Hospital and the community as appropriate. Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel is a regional center for the care of infants, children and teens, offering unrivaled pediatric expertise in a state-of-the-art facility designed exclusively for children.

Requirements

Minimum 1 year experience in provision of community/health education.
Certification from “Safe Kids USA” as a Child Passenger Safety Technician required within 6 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

3 years of experience in provision of community/health education strongly preferred.
Completion of “Safe Travel for All Children: Transporting Children with Special Health Care Needs” training preferred.
Certification as a Child Passenger Safety Technician Instructor preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide injury prevention education and special needs transportation resources to patients at Randall Children’s Hospital and the community.
Inpatient consultation for child passenger safety needs or trauma prevention.
Coordination of educational courses, virtual classes, or events on campus and in the community.
Collaboration with families to ensure proper use of car safety seats.
Provide Safe Sleep recommendations (reflective of current AAP recommendations).
Delivery of home safety information and resources to families as needed.
Complete and thorough documentation and tracking of all activity and results in program tracking and EMR.
Serve as a practicing role model, consultant and liaison in child injury prevention & wellness topics for patients/families, staff and community.
Provide monthly reporting identifying successes and challenges.
