About The Position

Georgia Fugees Academy Charter School (GFACS) is collecting applications for a Child, Family, and School Social Worker serving 6th-12th Grade. This role requires an unwavering commitment to the Fugees Family, Inc. mission and the willingness to go above & beyond to meet the needs of students, families, and staff. Reporting to the School Leader, this is a 10-month, exempt position. The program begins with middle-school-level students, but instructional scope starts at Kindergarten-level material, as most Fugees Academy students begin middle school performing well below grade level.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Counseling, Education, or a related field required.
  • State licensure or certification may be required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with ethical, legal, and professional standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or related field preferred, depending on agency or state requirements.
  • Experience working with children, families, schools, social services, or community-based programs preferred.
  • Knowledge of child development, family systems, trauma-informed care, school systems, and community resources preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the needs, strengths, challenges, and safety concerns of children, families, or students.
  • Provide counseling, crisis intervention, case management, and support services.
  • Develop service plans, intervention strategies, or care plans based on client needs.
  • Refer clients to community resources such as housing assistance, food programs, healthcare, counseling, legal aid, or educational support.
  • Advocate for children, families, and students within schools, courts, healthcare systems, and social service agencies.
  • Monitor client progress and adjust service plans as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case records, reports, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, guardians, caseworkers, mental health professionals, and community partners.
  • Investigate or respond to concerns related to child abuse, neglect, truancy, family instability, or student welfare when required.
  • Support students with academic, behavioral, social, or emotional difficulties.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, individualized education planning, or family service planning.
  • Educate families and clients about available services, rights, responsibilities, and coping strategies.
