The Early Head Start Child Development Specialist (CDS) is responsible for providing professional expertise in Early Childhood Education and Development for the CCNS Family Child Care (FCC) Early Head Start program option. The CDS will manage a caseload of 10 to 12 FCC providers, conducting regular visits to each provider home at least once every two weeks. Responsibilities include monitoring and providing educational support to providers regarding assessments and screenings, managing data in the TSG system, and periodically verifying compliance with agency policy. The CDS will facilitate communication between program staff, family child care providers, and enrolled families, and offer recommendations for technical assistance and support to providers in developing relationships with other child care professionals. The role involves monitoring provider homes, providing consultation and training, developing policies and procedures, agency collaboration, and tracking Early Childhood Education/Early Childhood Development services. The CDS will collaborate with other Early Head Start and pre-K programs to develop transition plans and monitor services, including observing providers in their homes. They will support FCC staff and providers on issues related to classroom environments, teaching skills, curriculum, and child/family transitions through home visits, phone calls, emails, written reports, and data tracking. The CDS will research and disseminate information on Child Development from professional sources to staff, parents, and providers. They will also assist in coordinating the annual Program Self-Assessment and follow-up reporting, and contribute to the development and maintenance of written policies and procedures in compliance with Early Head Start Performance Standards.
