The Child Development Coordinator is responsible for monitoring various programs including Child Development, Disabilities, Nutrition, and Wellness. This role involves case reviews, classroom observations, child file reviews, in-house staffing, CLASS reviews, child and classroom transitions, case notes, and coordination of services while maintaining confidentiality. The coordinator may also perform classroom teacher duties as necessary. Additionally, this position provides direct supervision to Classroom Teachers and/or Assistant Teachers, conducts performance appraisals, and offers technical assistance. A key responsibility is recruiting and training volunteers to assist with child development duties such as screenings, assessments, home visits, parent/teacher conferences, lesson planning, individualization, and referrals for children with potential disabilities. The coordinator also plans and coordinates essential trainings for staff, parents, and volunteers, including First Aid, CPR, Bloodborne Pathogen/Universal Precautions, Shaken Baby Syndrome, and Child Abuse/Neglect. Database management for Head Start Services in child development, Disabilities, and Mental Health is also a core function. The role involves providing training and technical assistance in various developmental areas, ensuring coordination of services among staff, and monitoring procedures for case reviews, health emergencies, and injury prevention. Assisting in the development of Professional Development Plans through observations and data review is crucial. The coordinator ensures new employees and volunteers receive necessary training during orientation. Compliance monitoring of classroom teachers for job duties, classroom management, and adherence to policies and standards is required. The role also oversees the implementation of Disabilities and Child Food and Adult Care program (CACFP) policies, including meal services and nutritional activities. Coordination with the Center Manager is essential for assessing and implementing Disabilities & Mental Wellness services, recruitment, and providing guidance to teachers. The coordinator is responsible for ensuring IEP/IFSP goals are implemented and tracked, and coordinates health and disability-related home visits. Maintaining appropriate staff-child ratios and ensuring active supervision procedures are followed, including bus safety, are critical. The position involves determining staff assignments and classroom space based on standards and regulations, coordinating Disabilities and Mental Wellness services at the center, and managing the loading/unloading of children from buses. Assisting with the Center budget, including in-kind contributions, and reviewing/approving lesson plans, home visits, and field trips are also part of the role. The coordinator is expected to attend various staff meetings and program activities and perform other assigned duties.
