About The Position

The Child Development Program at Georgia State University is dedicated to providing high-quality early care and education that supports young children’s cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development. The Department is seeking two dedicated and experienced Child Development Aide I to join our team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Six months experience working in a childcare setting or successful completion of a childcare training program.
  • Criminal background check is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide physical care for infants, toddlers, and preschool aged children including diapering and/or toilet training, feeding and mealtime assistance or teaching them to feed themselves, handwashing and supervising dressing, toileting, and all other care-related activities as needed.
  • Assist with coordinating developmentally appropriate activities for infants, toddlers or preschool aged children. This may include modeling language and speech and providing opportunities and encouragement for learning new physical skills, working with individual children or small groups of children to encourage language development, social, cognitive, and physical skills to planned activities and daily, routine activities.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks as required; such as sweeping floors, cleaning tables and chairs, changing bed linens, washing toys and doing laundry.
  • Ensure the physical safety of all children by providing constant attention and supervision. Make sure that hazardous items are kept out of reach and closely supervise activities such as climbing or swinging that may involve the possibility of injury.
