About The Position

Saint John’s Program for Real Change mission is to provide a safe space for women and children to heal and develop the skills necessary to transform their lives. We accomplish our mission by holding to our vision to end the generational cycle of trauma and homelessness. We operate the largest residential program for formerly homeless women and children in the Sacramento region providing services 24 hours/day, 365 days/year, offering shelter, meals, childcare, and comprehensive support services, including Behavioral Health Services, Hands-on Employment Training, Career Education, and Family Services. Requirements

  • Social Work, Psychology, or Child Development Bachelor’s degree plus 1 year of experience; OR AA degree plus 2 years of experience working with children or families with complex needs.
  • Preferred education emphasis in human services, counseling, guidance, social work, child development, etc.
  • Fluent in English language (spoken and written)
  • Proficient knowledge of email, copiers, fax, and internet
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite

  • Works independently, flexibly, and as part of a team.
  • Works effectively with outside agencies in providing client services.

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in Spanish language (spoken and written)
  • Trauma informed training
  • Bi-lingual/bi-cultural knowledge is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide initial and ongoing assessment of child and family needs and strengths.
  • Develop, implement, and review individualized service plans with children and/or caregivers.
  • Access and collaborate with community-based service providers to meet/achieve client needs and identify goals and objectives.
  • Build strong rapport with youth to coach them in navigating daily challenges.
  • Facilitate teen programs, recreational and educational groups and outings.
  • Driving families, if needed, to outings/events.
  • Collaborate with other team members in the creation of youth supportive programming.
  • Facilitate a weekly teen group focused on skill-building and peer connection, ensuring structured programming through agenda development, interactive activities, and ongoing engagement strategies.
  • On-duty assignments providing crisis intervention, resources, and referrals.
  • Complete treatment plans, assessments, progress notes, monthly reports, exit paperwork, and other required paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Show proficient skills and abilities regarding verbal and written communication and conflict management and mediation.
  • Maintain accurate and current progress notes for all clients on caseload.
  • Maintain close communication with all treatment team members.
  • Participate in weekly individual and/or group supervision as required.
  • Attend and participate in all staff meetings and training courses as assigned.
  • Maintain professional behavior, appropriately representing Saint John’s mission and vision.
  • All other duties assigned by supervisor or other management.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
  • Ability to get along and work effectively with others.
