About The Position

Bright Horizons is hiring a Child Care Teacher for full-time work with toddlers and preschoolers at its Penn State Behrend location. The teacher provides supervision, care, curriculum delivery, and services in an early education/preschool child care center, following Bright Horizons’ policies, procedures, and guidance and applicable laws and regulations. The role is focused on helping ensure children’s safety and supporting their development. Bright Horizons offers opportunities to pursue a CDA or college degree at no cost through its Horizons CDA & Degree Program.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED.
• Complete college-level coursework in early childhood education, hold a CDA, or have an associate or bachelor’s degree in early education or a related field.
• Demonstrate knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice (DAP) for children.
• Pass required state and company background checks and meet state and company minimum education and experience requirements.
• Comply with applicable federal, state, local, Bright Horizons, and client site requirements concerning immunizations, employment physicals or screening, and health and safety training.
• Meet the physical and alertness requirements of the role, including lifting and carrying children, participating in classroom activities, and maintaining appropriate energy.

Nice To Haves

• One year of professional teaching experience in a child care, daycare, or preschool setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create hands-on activities that meet children’s needs and interests.
• Maintain open communication with parents and share children’s daily milestones.
• Keep the classroom safe and clean by following required procedures and guidelines.
• Provide supervision, care, curriculum delivery, and services in accordance with Bright Horizons’ policies, procedures, and guidance and applicable laws and regulations.
• Respond immediately and appropriately to multiple or unexpected situations or emergencies.
