About The Position

This position is responsible for planning and implementing a campus child care instructional program; providing instruction and directing activities for children; preparing instructional materials; and maintaining a variety of reports. The role involves implementing programs designed to meet the individual needs of children, including activities in music, creative arts, language arts and literature, science, and math. It also includes setting up and supervising learning activities for preschool children, observing and assessing their development, and communicating with parents about the program and their child's progress. Ensuring the safety of children through observation and behavior guidance, educating them on health and safety practices, and assisting with personal hygiene are key responsibilities. The position requires maintaining a safe and clean environment, preparing and serving meals and snacks, and performing light housekeeping. Record-keeping, attending meetings and conferences, and communicating with professionals regarding child development are also part of the role. The teacher will create and maintain records, assist parents with registration, and prepare attendance records. Ordering and maintaining equipment, supplies, and materials, and providing work direction to others are also included. The role requires learning and applying emerging technologies and participating in diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. Performing related duties and services for grant programs, such as home visits, may also be required.

Requirements

Completion of a minimum of twelve (12) semester units of course work in early childhood education/child development (exclusive of fieldwork) including at least one course in each of the following core areas: Child/human growth and development; Child, family and community, or child and family relations; Programs/curriculum.
Fifty days of experience in an instructional capacity in a child care development program, working at least three hours per day within the last two years.
OR Alternative equivalent qualifications which meet the eligibility requirements for the Child Development Associate Teacher Permit, as specified by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

Nice To Haves

Commission on Teacher Credentialing permit required Teacher level or higher (Teacher Permit : 24 ECE units and 16 GE units OR Master Teacher Permit : Teacher + 6 ECE units in specialization + 2 adult supervision units).
Reggio Emilia – Constructivist approach experiences desired.
Knowledge of title 5, 22 and CLASS trained.
Dedicated to providing quality child development learning experiences within a Lab School.
Demonstrated experience integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion into the duties and responsibilities for this position.
Prior experience in approaching work and interactions with colleagues and/or students in an equity minded manner.

Consulting with professionals regarding children’s development and concerns.

Creating and maintaining records and files.
