About The Position

The Ministry of Education and Childcare is seeking a Child Care Funding Coordinator to administer and monitor various grants under the Early Childhood Educator Workforce Supports Program and Child Care Affordability Grant. These programs aim to provide funding for childcare programs to sustain a trained workforce and reduce parent fees. The role involves ensuring financial accountability through reviews, assessments, and recommendations for licensed child care programs, managing significant grant amounts annually. Requirements

  • High school diploma and three years of related experience.
  • Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of one year of experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Detailed knowledge of financial practices and administration of grant funding.
  • Ability to make decisions and utilize solid decision-making processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Aptitude for prioritization and multi-tasking.
  • Adaptable to changing work environments.
  • Strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
  • Experience with research methodology, statistics, information systems, date management and analysis.
  • Effective liaison skills.
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Ability to think comprehensively, understand specific details and implications, and to work effectively with complex issues, systems and relationships.
  • Competent computer skills using a variety of applications (CCIS, CMAS, Info mart, Microsoft Office).

Responsibilities

  • Administering and monitoring various grants under the Early Childhood Educator Workforce Supports Program and Child Care Affordability Grant.
  • Ensuring financial accountability for the administration of grants through reviews, detailed assessments, evaluations, and recommendations for licensed child care programs.
  • Assessing, evaluating, and recommending grant funding for licensed childcare programs.
  • Assessing, recommending, and determining eligibility for grant funding.
  • Advising grant recipients on meeting grant conditions.
  • Identifying delivery and payment issues and recommending resolution options.
  • Ensuring services are delivered in accordance with accepted practices and financial legislation.
  • Tracking and reporting professional development and release time expenditures for Early Childhood Educators.
  • Generating and analyzing reports to assist with program and financial operations and strategic direction.
  • Providing advice, information, and direction regarding various grants.
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring policies and procedures for grants to ensure continuous program improvement.
  • Making recommendations for revision of current policy and service delivery processes.
  • Identifying implications for potential impacts on provincial Early Learning and Child Care programs.
  • Interpreting policy, standards, and guidelines related to grants.
  • Collecting and researching information for briefing notes and action requests.
  • Conducting research on similar programs in other jurisdictions and making recommendations for program enhancement.
  • Participating in best practices meetings.
  • Identifying system issues and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Contributing to building new provincial systems.
  • Managing and responding to complaints related to the grants.
  • Providing advice, information, and direction to resolve complaints.
  • Requesting additional information to investigate complaints.
  • Referring complaints as required.
  • Participating in the development of the operational plan for the Child Care Branch.
  • Delegating administrative work to unit administrative and/or temporary support staff.
  • Contributing to a positive team environment.
