About The Position

Join the YMCA of Oakville, the largest not-for-profit child care provider in Oakville, as a Child Care Educator. This role involves creating meaningful experiences for children aged 3.8 to 12 years, building positive relationships with families, and making a lasting impact in the community. The position is located at various school sites throughout Oakville, Ontario, and is a part-time role during the school year, with hours typically from 7:00 am to 9:00 am and/or 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Hours may vary based on individual school schedules.

Requirements

  • Possess a diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or equivalent related field
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • A commitment to creating inclusive environments that celebrate diversity
  • A professional, reliable, and confidential approach to their work
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C (Infant/Child)
  • A Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last six months
  • Work Authorization: Must provide valid documentation confirming work authorization if holding an IRCC-issued work permit.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging before and after school programs for children aged 3.8–12 years
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported
  • Implement the YMCA curriculum while adapting activities to meet children's individual interests and developmental needs
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, colleagues, volunteers, and placement students
  • Supervise children while maintaining attendance, health, and safety standards
  • Support snack and meal service while maintaining cleanliness and organization
  • Follow YMCA policies, Ministry of Education requirements, and Child Care & Early Years Act regulations
