About The Position

The Child Care Center Teacher will develop and implement a rich teaching/learning environment that encompasses all learning domains: language, cognitive, gross motor, fine motor, self-help/adaptive, and social-emotional. This role involves maintaining an organized, safe, and appealing environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of children. The teacher will plan and implement daily programming with developmentally appropriate activities based on Louisiana Department of Education Early Learning Guidelines, utilizing tools like anecdotal notes and TS Gold to assess individual child needs. The position requires adherence to state licensing agencies and regulations to maintain program quality, and knowledge of Teaching Strategies GOLD, Louisiana Pathways, CLASS assessment system, research-based practices, and developmentally appropriate practices. The teacher will review each child's progress, develop plans for growth, mentor student interns, and attend required trainings. Responsibilities also include maintaining records, confidentiality, good communication with families, and preparing for various special events.

Requirements

  • Must have, or able to obtain, Louisiana Department of Education Early Childhood Ancillary Teaching Certificate.

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience in an early learning center preferred.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA), associate degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Possess knowledge of Teaching Strategies GOLD, Louisiana Pathways, CLASS assessment system, research-based practices, and developmentally appropriate practices.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an organized, safe, and appealing environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of children.
  • Plan and implement daily programming that includes developmentally appropriate activities based on Louisiana Department of Education Early Learning Guidelines.
  • Utilize necessary tools (anecdotal notes, TS Gold, etc) to assess the needs of the individual child.
  • Maintain program quality, adhering to all state licensing agencies and regulations.
  • Review each child’s progress and develop plans to promote growth and development.
  • Mentor student interns.
  • Attend required trainings mandated by state licensing.
  • Maintain records of children’s progress.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Maintain good communication with enrolled families by responding appropriately to their interests, requests, and needs.
  • Prepare for special events: holidays, dress-up days, parent-teacher conferences, scholastic book fair week, picture days, staff work/planning days, homecoming parade, Mardi Gras parade, Winter Wonderland, Spring Fling, Pre-K celebration, special guests, awareness activities, etc.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
