About The Position

Under the direction of the Child Care and ECE Director, the Child Care Center Manager is responsible for the overall daily operation of the full-day childcare program at the Child Care Center when the Director is not available. The Child Care Center Manager holds the primary responsibility for the after-school program and summer day camp operating out of the childcare center and assists the Director with the education, health, welfare, and safety for all children in the center year-round. Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 1 year of experience with children.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 16 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 2 years of experience with children.
  • An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 3 years of experience with children.
  • An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 16 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 4 years of experience with children.
  • Current CDA or ability to get a CDA
  • NAC certification or ability to get a NAC certification

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Director in overseeing the planning and implementation of the program for the full-day, year-round Child Care Center (2 to 12-year-olds) and ensure that the program provided meets the highest quality and licensing standards year-round for all center programs.
  • Ensures the development of weekly lesson plans for the school age program that fit the children’s developmental needs and interests and meets grant requirements.
  • Work directly with the ASP director and summer day camp director to provide school age programs at the center year-round.
  • Give personal attention and supervision to every aspect of the Child Care Center operation.
  • Effectively communicates both verbally and in writing with parents of students in program on an ongoing basis.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training for both ASP and ECE programs.
  • Always maintain responsibility for the safety and supervision of all children in the Center.
  • Assist the director with maintaining a staff schedule to ensure that all ratios remain in compliance with UT state regulations. This may include acting as a classroom teacher or opening/closing the center on short notice.
  • Ensure site licensing and quality control visits are completed and of high quality/rating.
  • Support fund raising efforts, community service and family engagement activities and events that take place at the center.
  • Communicate to the director, staff work performance including regular observations, behavior reports, staff and student incident reports and time off requests. Covering shifts when needed and finding appropriate substitutes.
  • Work with the director to ensure the completion of 20 hours of annual training for all site staff.
  • Be familiar and ensure staff are familiar with Child protection policies and ERP’s for the Center.
  • Assist center staff with problem solving issues that develop at the center.
  • Assist with the organization of school age field trips, bus/van transportation.
  • Assist with the tracking and reporting of center data.
  • Assist the director with the documentation of attendance, absenteeism, and incidents for each child enrolled and all staff employed at the childcare center.
  • Responsible for the appearance of the classrooms and maintaining the quality of supplies, equipment, participate in YMCA activities that affect the childcare center.
  • Maintain and oversee facility equipment and supply needs necessary for the center's general operations including cleaning supplies, food program supplies and curriculum supplies.
  • Assist with maintaining an organized, first-come, first-served waiting list for families interested in the childcare program.
  • Assists the director with providing tours to prospective families.
  • Manage center volunteers, by making sure they are registered with Volunteer Matters and trained to work at the center in different capacities.
