About The Position

Care for children by creating a safe, developmentally appropriate environment that supports their physical, cognitive and emotional needs with hands on interaction. Build a partnership with families and co-workers to best support the children in our care. Attend to children at schools, businesses, private households, and childcare institutions. Perform a variety of tasks, such as dressing, feeding, bathing, and overseeing play.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things.
  • Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
  • Talking to others to convey information effectively.
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • The ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.
  • The ability to come up with unusual or clever ideas about a given topic or situation, or to develop creative ways to solve a problem.
  • The ability to identify and understand the speech of another person.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support & First Aid - American Heart Association within 60 Days (required)
  • Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter - Iowa Department of Human Services within 180 Days (required)

Responsibilities

  • Daily care of the children.
  • Diaper changing, potty training, preparing and serving meals and snacks.
  • Providing supervision by hands on interaction with the children.
  • Support Children's emotional and social development, encouraging positive behavior.
  • Maintain a safe enviorment.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with families.
  • Maintaining Daily communication by enter daily care items into Procare Parent Engagement App.
  • Recognize common childhood diseases.
  • Recognize physical and emotional abuse.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff.
  • Take instruction from supervisors and Room Leads.
