Child Care Assistant Teacher

About The Position

Big Blue Marble Academy is hiring Assistant Teachers to work with infants, toddlers, and as floaters. The role supports a curriculum that broadens children’s perspectives and understanding of the world beyond their community. The academy offers on-the-job training and career development opportunities, including a potential path from Assistant Teacher to Center Director. Assistant Teachers work with Lead Teachers to support daily classroom activities, partner with families to care for children, document children’s milestones using electronic tracking, and follow safety guidelines to keep classrooms clean and safe. Employment is contingent on successful completion of background checks, pre-hire screenings, and onboarding. Employment is at-will.

Requirements

At least 19 years of age.
High school diploma or GED.
Demonstrated experience working with children.
Ability to stand for six to eight hours daily and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, and perform similar activities while working with children.
Ability to lift at least 30 pounds.
Successful completion of the background check, pre-hire screenings, and onboarding processes.

Nice To Haves

Child care, daycare, or preschool experience is preferred.
Early childhood coursework, a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, or a degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

Work as a team with the Lead Teacher to facilitate daily activities and ensure the classroom functions smoothly.
Partner with families to nurture and care for their children.
Use electronic daily tracking to document children’s special milestones.
Follow enhanced safety guidelines to keep the classroom clean and safe.
Visually supervise children at all times.
