The Registered Nurse (SIPP) is responsible for carrying out medical and nursing assessments, physician’s orders, administration of medications and providing assistance where needed. This role actively participates in the treatment planning of clients, administers medications safely and documents administration. The nurse consistently maintains client confidentiality and agency security policies, ensuring accurate and timely documentation in client files, nursing logs, and other required sources according to agency guidelines. The position also involves adhering to established protocols for assessing, documenting, and observing clients for seclusion/restraint or other special precautions, and contacting agency Psychiatrists when necessary for orders or consultation. The nurse transcribes and carries out physicians’ orders accurately, recognizes, reports, documents, and seeks appropriate intervention for changes in client status, and effectively sets appropriate limits. The role requires demonstrating knowledge of client needs based on age and functioning level, executing sound judgment through problem analysis and decision-making, and modeling appropriate professional appearance and conduct. The nurse will relate respectfully and professionally with clients, parents, peers, and the public, work effectively as a team member, display a willingness to work on varying assignments, and function independently. Providing proper notification for absences and tardiness, and displaying adaptability to changes in work duties or settings are also key aspects of this position.
