The Salvation Army is seeking a Child and Youth Worker Student to create and deliver quality programs and activities for children utilizing a trauma-informed perspective. This role involves planning and implementing age-based activities, including theme-based activities focused on literacy, STEM, emotional regulation, and mental health wellness. The student will act as a role model for healthy behavior and attitudes, support client growth, and promote positive behaviors. Responsibilities include reading daily communication logs and case notes as part of an interdisciplinary team, recording pertinent information in client files, representing the Centre at community events, and creating a program calendar. The role also involves attending staff and case management meetings, assisting with special events and risk management, interacting with parents, networking with community agencies, and working with volunteers. The student will be actively involved in ongoing professional development, completing statistics for child and youth groups, adhering to the Centre Employee Handbook and Policy and Procedure Manual, and participating in formal evaluation sessions with their supervisor. They must agree to and sign a Confidentiality statement, adhere to the Centres Health and Safety regulations, and make suggestions for improving efficiency, working conditions, or procedures to management. The position requires representing the organization in a professional manner and attitude.
