About The Position

360°kids is a community agency serving York Region, dedicated to improving the lives of unhoused and marginalized youth and families. They offer a continuum of care with programs and services focused on stable housing and wraparound supports. The youth residence program is voluntary, serving youth aged 15-19 facing a housing crisis. The primary focus is family reintegration, with a secondary focus on teaching life skills for independent living. The Youth Worker will provide client-centered, hands-on support for youth in the SHINE Programs.

Requirements

Post-Secondary degree/diploma in a Child/Youth related field (e.g., Child and Youth, Social Service Worker, Social Worker, Psychology, Sociology) or equivalent combination of education and experience working with youth.
Minimum of three years’ experience working with “at-risk” or street-involved youth.
Current First Aid/CPR certification.
Current Broad Record Check (criminal background check).
Car and valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract, and $2M liability insurance required.
Demonstrated client-focused counseling skills and role modeling.
Leadership skills, including motivation, delegation, coaching/mentoring, empowerment, and the ability to motivate staff.
Demonstrated extensive knowledge of working with youth, including understanding of the regulatory environment (e.g., CFSA and QSF).
Demonstrated client-focused counseling skills and role modeling.
Broad knowledge of community resources and the ability to strongly advocate for clients and professional referrals.
Relationship building and management skills to support relationships with peers, staff, partners, ministry officials, and other stakeholders.
Ability to climb stairs; program is not currently accessible for mobility devices.

Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), Suicide Prevention training.

Responsibilities

Create and maintain a clean and welcoming environment for youth in care.
Ensure program is always accessible to youth.
Provide ongoing life skills support, mentoring, and access to direct services for issues such as employment, family issues, life skills, shelter, hot meals, counseling, recreational activities, and clothing.
Facilitate regular life skill programming to build youth skills and prepare them for independence.
Medication administration, monitoring, storage, and disposal (as required).
Provide informal one-on-one counseling to youth in the program.
Advocate on youth’s behalf and act as a positive role model.
Intake and discharge planning.
Manage crisis or critical incidents to ensure safety and report immediately to the appropriate level.
Oversee meal preparation and cleaning, perform light housework, maintenance, and repair work, or arrange for additional services.
Enforce house rules, policies, and procedures.
Daily documentation, including case notes, report writing, and other administrative duties.
Case Management for primary youths, ensuring plans of care, medical, and dental compliance with QSF.
Assist youth in accessing various community programs related to school, health, housing, and employment.
Maintain positive relationships and interact professionally with community partners including school boards, police services, child welfare agencies, and neighbors.
Positively contribute to 360°kids as an organization.
Perform other duties as required (general home maintenance).
