About The Position

As a Child and Youth Specialist with the Utah National Guard Family Assistance Center team, you will serve as a vital link for service members and their families. You will help navigate all phases of mobilization by offering direct guidance, connecting families to essential resources, and building strong support networks across the community. This role is for someone who is a compassionate communicator, a skilled coordinator, and passionate about making a real difference in the lives of military families.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license per UCA 53-3-202(1)(a).
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed to conduct outreach and attend events.
  • Empathetic & Service-Oriented: Skilled at active listening, social perceptiveness, and building rapport with families facing unique military challenges.
  • Strong Communicator: Clear and confident in both written documents and oral presentations.
  • Organized & Resourceful: Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and time management skills to manage resources effectively.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal history check.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake and consultations with service members and their families to identify needs during mobilization.
  • Provide direct referrals and resources for critical family support services, including financial assistance, medical benefits, legal issues, ID cards, and travel coordination.
  • Proactively market and promote Family Assistance Center support services to service members and families.
  • Coordinate with the State Family Program Office and Public Affairs Officer to plan outreach efforts, community events, and public communications.
  • Serve on key committees to support Family Readiness Groups.
  • Assist with event scheduling, drafting communications (newsletters, bulletins, phone trees), and organizing community outreach initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate intake sheets, case logs, and point-of-contact directories for support agencies.
  • Draft administrative correspondence, program reports, and written materials to ensure smooth service delivery.
