About The Position

The Army National Guard (ARNG) Child and Youth Services (CYS) aims to enhance the quality of life and resilience of Army National Guard dependent children and youth by offering secure, timely, flexible, and high-quality support services and enrichment programs. The Child and Youth Program Coordinator (CYS) serves as a youth subject matter expert at the state level, responsible for planning and executing youth programs, and providing essential support and resources to Army National Guard military youth and their families. This role involves close collaboration with the Lead Child and Youth Program Coordinator, State Family Program Director (SFPD), and the Program Management Team to ensure that youth services align with the needs of the military population and meet established national performance metrics. The CYPC also actively assists the LCYPC in recruiting, training, and managing the state-level volunteer team, and in fostering local and state-level partnerships with youth service programs and organizations.

Requirements

  • Four years of college and relevant work experience are required.
  • Must have youth programming and development, in the absence of a four-year degree, two years of college and direct youth programming experience can be substituted.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, social media platforms and design software/websites.
  • Ability to successfully pass both state and federal government background checks.
  • A current and valid driver's license and U.S. citizenship status.

Responsibilities

  • Must have significant experience working with youth of all ages - in both formal and informal settings.
  • Possesses an awareness of youth development and youth developmental needs.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and time-sensitive tasks, and experience with planning and operating both large - and small-scale events.
  • Experience related to developing and implementing youth curriculum.
  • Ability to design marketing materials and publications.
  • Must be able to complete program-specific reports and ability to successfully convey information in both verbal and written formats.
  • Must possess a great attention to detail, an ability to analyze program data from multiple sources, and an understanding of, or willingness to learn about, the military and military community.
