About The Position

The counselor, using evidenced based counseling methods, provides counseling and crisis intervention services to children and adolescents while incorporating caregiver/family support as appropriate, in accordance with all applicable federal and local laws and regulations, and with Behavioral Health policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Experience, training, and knowledge in assessing and treating children and adolescents utilizing evidenced based modalities required
  • Knowledge of treatment approaches for individuals with special needs, neurodiversity, and family counseling and support, crisis intervention and brief therapy.
  • Knowledge of group process.
  • Ability to develop and monitor goal-directed treatment relationships.
  • Ability to develop community resources and market services.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to read, write and speak in English.
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences.
  • Master’s Degree in Social Services field or related field (Psychology, Mental Health Counseling).
  • Washington State Counselor’s license (LMHC, LICSW, LMFT).
  • Associate license clinicians will be considered based on experience
  • Experience working with neuro-diverse children and youth.
  • Experience in working with children and families.
  • Experience in leading groups, trainings and workshops.
  • Experience working with diversified, ethnic/cultural populations in social services.
  • Ability to pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.
  • WA state Driver’s license and ability to be approved by Tribal insurance to drive Tribal vehicles.
  • Must keep up to date certification CEU’s to provide services to clients.

Nice To Haves

  • Child Mental Health Specialist designation strongly preferred
  • Experience working in Tribal communities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules, coordinates and manages an ongoing caseload of 30-35 clients.
  • Provides individual, couple, family and group counseling, intake and assessment, diagnosis, crisis intervention, drop-in, and follow up services.
  • Provides tools in regulating emotions, relationship building, social emotional skills and executive function development.
  • Participates in staff meetings, consultations, case presentations, and training programs.
  • Maintains client progress, and provides outreach and advocacy to help people attain their highest degree of health and independence.
  • Provides ongoing outreach to children, youth, parents, schools and communities to ensure awareness of community needs and service availability.
  • Develops and maintains positive relations with community referral sources.
  • Advocates and facilitates the delivery of medical/psychiatric, housing, employment and educational services.
  • Maintains case records in an accurate and timely manner; develops and maintains current crisis plan.
  • Meets with supervisor on a regular basis and attends required meetings, consultations and trainings.
