About The Position

The Children’s Center of Hamden is seeking a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary clinical team. You will play a central role in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating youth with emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric challenges in our outpatient, residential, and school-based programs. Your expertise will directly support the well-being and long-term success of the children and adolescents we serve. Requirements

  • Active MD or DO required, with board certification or board eligibility in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Must maintain all required Connecticut licenses and certifications, including: Connecticut Physician License, Controlled Substance Registration, Federal DEA Registration.
  • Experience with youth mental health, trauma, family systems, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Dedication to ethical practice, diversity, equity, and professional integrity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in outpatient, residential, or community behavioral health settings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and provide treatment, including medication management, for children and adolescents.
  • Monitor treatment plans and levels of care to ensure effective, appropriate interventions.
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation of assessments, treatment recommendations, and discharge planning.
  • Provide psychiatric consultation and clinical guidance to the treatment team.
  • Participate in clinical rounds, medication reviews, and treatment team meetings.
  • Apply knowledge of child and adolescent development in diagnostic and treatment decisions.
  • Assess and treat adolescent substance use disorders.
  • Supervise psychiatry trainees and APRNs as assigned.
  • Provide coverage for colleagues as needed to maintain continuity of care.
  • Participate in the agency’s after-hours on-call rotation.
