Westminster Title Agency, a Toll Brothers company, seeks an experienced Chief Title Officer for our office in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Chief Title Officer has overall responsibility for the company's title insurance operations and underwriting practices nationwide. The Chief Title Officer determines insurability of title to real estate, directs title risk evaluation and resolution, manages employees, and oversees the production of preliminary title products, binders, commitments, and policies. They provide leadership and guidance to staff on clearing title requirements and ensure title insurance practices, policy issuance, and rates are administered in accordance with applicable state regulations and underwriter requirements. The Chief Title Officer serves as the primary company resource for title-related matters and maintains relationships with underwriters, attorneys, commercial and acquisition clients, and other parties to transactions, providing direction and resolution on complex title questions, underwriting issues, and insurability decisions. The Chief Title Officer serves as a key partner in the evaluation and implementation of new state and market expansions, ensuring title operations, underwriting practices, licensing requirements, and regulatory obligations are properly established and maintained.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of title underwriting and settlement industry practices, laws and regulations
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in an organized manner to meet deadlines
  • Superior reasoning ability and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to handle conflict in a professional setting
  • Master’s Degree or at least 10 years work related experience
  • Licensed and Underwriter appointed title insurance producer
  • At least 5 years’ experience as Senior Title Officer in specific search, exam, claims and underwriting

  • 10 years of experience in title search, exam and underwriting environment and industry
  • 5 years of commercial title insurance experience

Responsibilities

  • Read, examine, and determine insurability of title to issue title insurance preliminaries, commitments, and policies.
  • Main contact for all Toll Brothers title-related matters, including complex commercial and high-liability transactions. Serves as the primary resource for attorneys, underwriters, internal business partners, and other parties regarding title-related questions, underwriting issues, and regulatory requirements, including state-specific matters Department of Real Estate related title inquiries.
  • Manage and educate direct reports, and other title personnel, to develop the skill sets to handle the issuance of title insurance and develop and implement title policies and to ensure professional requirement and responsibilities are met
  • Maintain necessary licenses and complete continuing education to remain compliant and licensed
  • Maintain, company title standards, title insurance practices, and quality control measures to ensure consistency across all operations.
  • Provide oversight and direction regarding title-related compliance matters and ensure adherence to applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and underwriter guidelines.
