About The Position

AIM's mission is to provide scalable earthmoving, which is essential for civilization as all physical infrastructure requires material movement. AIM is a physical AI platform that autonomously moves these materials, currently deployed in mining and construction, and is entering a critical scale phase to automate the reshaping of our planet. As the CTO, you will architect the autonomous future, operating with maximum autonomy to execute the terraforming mission. Your mandate is to ensure AIM's technology successfully integrates into the complex ecosystems of global customers and business partners. You are responsible for the technical solution that enables autonomous fleets to achieve maximum safety and productivity, and you will play a significant role in scaling the company through your technical and cultural leadership.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of technical leadership experience (CTO, Head of Eng) in Autonomous Vehicles or Deep Tech.
  • Direct experience landing hardware-integrated products in production environments.
  • Track record of building and leading orgs that shipped learned systems in unstructured environments.
  • Hypergrowth startup background: Proven success in scaling engineering teams during rapid expansion phases.
  • Deep technical fluency in AI/ML stacks, robotics software, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
  • Based in or excited to relocate to the Greater Seattle Area.
  • Proven track record of landing products with hardware components.
  • Scaled technical organizations within high-stakes, fast-moving startups.
  • Led organizations where the hard problems were physical, not architectural, and understood the stakes of production environments.
  • Possess a "Founder mindset," defining the technical path and executing with precision and attention to important details.
  • Understands how to build a platform that automates an entire industrial ecosystem with customers and business partners.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end technical lifecycle of landing deep tech products that involve sophisticated sensors, ruggedized compute, and heavy-duty hardware components.
  • Ensure the AI stack translates flawlessly to the physical world, managing the challenges of edge computing, harsh physical environments, and mission-critical safety.
  • Own the process from data flywheel to safe product rollout.
  • Understand that embodied AI is not just SaaS; distribution shift is the norm, sensors degrade, and ground truth is whether the machine finished the shift. Fund simulation, field tests, and data infrastructure like products.
  • Drive scale of the AIM Platform and its distribution across the markets.
  • Build technical solutions that integrate seamlessly into customers' existing workflows, turning isolated machines into a unified, autonomous ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with strategic partners to ensure the AIM platform acts as the universal "brain" across diverse fleets and operational sites.
  • Lead the development of multi-agent coordination and site-level intelligence that automates the entire value chain of earthmoving.
  • Build and lead a multidisciplinary engineering organization (AI, Robotics, Embedded Systems, Hardware) while maintaining breakneck speed during hypergrowth.
  • Define and execute a technical roadmap that balances immediate customer needs with the long-term goal of planetary-scale terraforming.
  • Maintain a safe and cohesive engineering culture that keeps pride in building top-notch solutions and customer success top of mind.

Benefits

  • Work with a team of elite operators from tech startups, Google, SpaceX, Waymo, Tesla, Stripe, Amazon.
  • Solving a trillion-dollar problem at the foundation of the global economy.
  • Radical autonomy to lead the technical execution of a planetary-scale mission.
  • Join a company with real-world production systems and global revenue.
