About The Position

Thompson Holdings Inc. is seeking a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to serve as an executive-level technology leader for the entire holding company and its subsidiaries. This newly created role will focus on setting and advancing technology strategy, evaluating third-party solutions, developing enterprise digital solutions, and creating a data strategy with a practical governance model. The CTO will leverage Sourcetoad's capabilities while developing a broader enterprise-wide technology strategy to position Thompson Holdings as a technology-enabled competitor in its markets. The role also involves innovating and streamlining processes for corporate services (HR, Safety, Legal, IT, Finance, Communication) as the company scales. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of digital innovation, enterprise data governance, digital solutions delivery, and corporate governance, combining vision with hands-on execution.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive technology leadership experience.
  • 5+ years in a senior technology executive role (CTO, VP Technology, or equivalent).
  • Background in professional services, AEC, engineering, construction, consulting, or government services, or demonstrated experience leading technology transformation in these industries.
  • Experience managing or closely partnering with software development organizations.
  • Sufficient technical depth to earn the respect of engineers.
  • Proven track record managing technological solutions across multiple business units or entities.
  • Experience with technology-driven M&A: integration planning, due diligence, or post-acquisition rationalization.
  • Management of employees and hands-on technology-driven solution implementation.
  • Strategic thinker who can translate technology vision into tangible business outcomes.
  • Credibility with both enterprise-minded operational leaders and software-native engineering teams.
  • Strong change management skills.
  • Working knowledge of AI/ML applications, modern software development practices, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to shape enterprise data strategy, data governance, and digital solutions roadmaps.
  • Practical, ROI-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own a unified technology roadmap across all companies within Thompson Holdings.
  • Evaluate and prioritize technology capabilities across the enterprise, including Sourcetoad's software, AI, and automation expertise, to maximize ROI.
  • Establish technology governance, including standards, platforms, and decision frameworks, to balance subsidiary autonomy with shared infrastructure benefits.
  • Partner with enterprise IT leadership to develop technology roadmaps that balance innovation with operational reliability and risk management.
  • Create and lead the enterprise data strategy, including developing a scalable data fabric to connect various data sources across the enterprise.
  • Establish enterprise data governance practices, including data ownership, stewardship, quality, access, security, and integration standards.
  • Serve as the executive-level technology bridge between Thompson Holdings and its subsidiaries.
  • Drive enterprise adoption of technology-enabled tools and solutions, including Sourcetoad-built products.
  • Lead the design, prioritization, and delivery of enterprise digital solutions to improve project delivery, operations, client experience, and management visibility.
  • Define and oversee the responsible application of AI and machine learning across the enterprise, prioritizing business impact and operational improvement.
  • Partner with subsidiaries to build, evaluate, and scale AI-enabled solutions.
  • Keep Thompson Holdings ahead of the technology curve in the AEC and disaster recovery industries.
  • Lead and manage technology-driven projects from inception to implementation, aligning with corporate cybersecurity, compliance, and data governance standards.
  • Help package and position Thompson's combined engineering, software, and AI capabilities as a competitive differentiator.
  • Partner with subsidiary leaders and business development teams to identify and pursue technology-enabled service opportunities.
  • Represent Thompson's technology vision and support clients, partners, and industry associations.
  • Lead technology adoption across a diverse workforce.
  • Build trust with subsidiary leaders and employee-owners to foster technology adoption.
  • Advise on future acquisitions from a technology perspective, assessing maturity, integration risks, and strategic fit.
  • Lead technology integration for new subsidiaries post-acquisition.
