About The Position

Hoyle Tanner is seeking a Chief Technology Officer. As our 135-person firm continues to grow, we are looking for someone to fill this role to provide strategic technology leadership and help transform our IT function to a scalable, competitive business enabler. This is a strategic leadership role and this person will partner closely with the Chief Operation Officer and executive team to guide the firm's technology roadmap, governance, risk management, and innovation strategy. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a pragmatic execution mindset, while being collaborative and relationship-oriented. As Hoyle Tanner's Chief Technology Officer, you will: Assess our current technology environment and organizational readiness Develop a practical, phased technology road map aligned with firm growth Strengthen IT governance, performance, and accountability Improve cybersecurity posture and risk management Elevate IT's reputation and business value across the firm Prepare the organization for scale, integration, and potential M&A Be responsible for technology assessment and strategy by conducting and maintaining a comprehensive current-state assessment of infrastructure, cloud environment, and systems Be responsible for improving and maintaining our IT operating model and organizational development Recommend optimal balance of in-house capabilities vs. outsourced services Implement measurable IT performance metrics (uptime, response time, satisfaction, system adoption) Provide strategic oversight of core systems and applications including but not limited to Deltek Vantagepoint (ERP/CRM), engineering and design platforms (Bentley, Autodesk, specialty software), cloud storage/ collaboration systems, and payroll/ HR systems (Paylocity) Ensure alignment between AI experimentation and measurable business outcomes by providing oversight of AI initiatives/ task force efforts Develop and evolve policies for cybersecurity, AI use, and data governance Identify systems and processes that must evolve to support scale of growth of firm

Requirements

  • 20+ years of experience including Senior technology leadership experience
  • Experience in professional services, engineering, architecture, or similar environment strongly preferred
  • MS/BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field
  • Demonstrated success transforming reactive IT organizations into strategic business partners
  • Experience overseeing ERP systems in professional services environment(s)
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks appropriate for mid-sized firms
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to influence non-technical leaders
  • Experience in fractional or advisory executive role(s) preferred
  • Salary is contingent on experience
