About The Position

We are seeking a technical leader to promote engineering innovation and help maintain a cohesive, forward-looking technology vision across SEE. In this role, you will advocate for the group’s technology portfolio, increase awareness of past and current developments, and identify new opportunities for advancement. You will work closely with staff to encourage participation in internal and external funding opportunities, including IRAD and industry collaborations, while strengthening connections with technologists across SES to align road-maps and foster cross-group innovation. Serve as a part-time technical leader focused on advancing SEE’s technology strategy. Responsibilities include refreshing the technology road-map based on internal capabilities and external trends, promoting collaboration and proposal development, and acting as a resource to staff for ideation and process innovation. The role requires strong technical depth in electronic system design, familiarity with spaceflight hardware, and expertise in processing systems such as command and data handling, navigation, or control systems, along with a passion for cultivating emerging technologies and enabling others to innovate.

Requirements

  • Possess a BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar
  • Have at least 5 years of experience in electronic system design
  • Are familiar with the design and test of space flight hardware
  • Have expertise in processing systems, such as C&DH, navigation, or control systems
  • Have enthusiasm to identify and cultivate emerging technology areas
  • Possess strong leadership, technical, and communication skills
  • Are able to obtain a Secret security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • Have an M.S. or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar
  • Have experience proposing and/or publishing R&D projects
  • Have demonstrated technical leadership of engineering projects

Responsibilities

  • Promote submissions from SEE staff to technology development funding opportunities such as IRAD, ignition grants, industry grants, and cross-project collaborations
  • Lead the effort to refresh the SEE technology road-map based on an understanding of SEE’s technical capabilities, the vision of SES, and the space technology offerings from external organizations
  • Build relationships with other SES chief technologists and understand the technology road-maps of their groups.
  • Promote collaborations between groups when organizing submissions to external funding opportunities
  • Serve as a resource to staff in SEE for idea-ting ways to innovate in our processes
