The Family Office oversees the tax affairs of a family with interests in real estate, operating businesses, private investments, trusts, and philanthropic entities. The Family Office operates in a demanding environment and requires the utmost confidentiality and discretion, clarity in communication and professionalism, with a view towards short and long-term planning. The Chief Tax Officer (CTO) will serve as the in-house tax officer reporting directly to the VP of Tax, of the associated majority owned business and is responsible for all aspects of tax planning, compliance, structuring, and advisory for the family, related entities, trusts, and investments. The individual will work closely with the family office CFO. This individual will manage external advisors, drive tax-efficient / advantaged strategies, and ensure compliance across federal, state, and international jurisdictions. The ideal candidate is a well-seasoned advisor, technically strong, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to operate in a highly confidential environment with complex entity structures and transactions. They must exhibit a comprehensive knowledge of the tax issues facing high net worth individuals and their families, while also having a strong working knowledge of Trusts, Foundations, C-corps, S-corps, and Partnerships. They will support the business founder as a trusted advisor providing tax consulting and advisory services, as well as other duties that may arise. This candidate will be responsible for implementing consulting/planning strategies through the timely delivery of advice which includes planning and scenario modeling, projections, estimates, and the filing of tax returns.
