Chief Systems Architect

Integral FederalTysons Corner, VA

About The Position

The Chief Systems Architect supports the United States Space Force (USSF) for the Ground-Based Radar Digitization (GBRD) program to establish, implement, and facilitate a common Integrated Digital Environment (IDE) platform.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • OCSMP (OMG-Certified Systems Modeling Professional) or equivalent certification
  • 10 years of systems engineering experience, with at least 5 years focused on Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), open architecture standards, and digital engineering environments
  • Secret Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement model governance and standards (to include SysML language, style, quality, and completeness) to ensure that the models are federated for the purposes of assessing design interoperability (e.g., substitute elements of one design into the other).
  • Support the Design and Architectural Working Group to develop, clarify, amend, or otherwise maintain model governance and coordinate collaborative workflows such as documenting and submitting the “to-be” branch for validation and transition to the main branch.
  • Incorporate and publish updates to model governance from the government’s concurrence to adjudicated amendments.
  • Capture and maintain the Common Architecture Baseline (CAB), including Modular System Interfaces, in the form of a “digital master” model with defined interfaces that each vendor can complete with internal details of the elements.
  • Collaboratively develop the CAB during requirements discovery and architectural development phase of the GBRD Program (Gate 1 out of 3 total), during which both vendors will refine and align their proposed designs to one common architecture and level of modularity.
  • Provide architectural analysis and decision support to the government in the form of a Technical Analysis Package before CAGBs detailing the compliance scores, interface status, and technical risks associated with any proposed architectural changes.
  • Continuously validate Prime Contractor system models against the Government-provided ‘GBRD Enterprise MBSE/MOSA Standards Document(s)’ for correctness, consistency, and compliance.
  • Generate regular ‘model compliance scorecards’ for each Prime and deliver them to the Government and the CAGB to continuously validate all Radar Vendor models.
  • Ensure the models are built correctly to enable federation, meet style and governance standards, support collaboration, and are semantically and syntactically complete
  • Ensure the design described in the models conforms to MOSA, interoperability, and architectural requirements.
  • Collect and formalize the MOSA standard as it pertains to GBRD architecture and develop MOSA Compliance Evaluation Criteria to grade radar designs
  • Develop and implement a model submission process for version tracking
  • Assess models against governance standards.
  • Maintain a live, shared dashboard visualizing each design’s MOSA compliance and flagging non-conformances
  • Identify critical cross-vendor interface or architectural risks in the Monthly Validation Report.
  • Advise the government on opportunities to integrate MBSE techniques and model-based collaboration into government design reviews.
