About The Position

The Chief Steward is responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of the stewarding department. This role ensures the cleanliness of all kitchens and back-of-house areas, and maintains adequate levels of china, silver, and glass par stock. The Chief Steward will direct supervision of all stewarding employees and supervisors, including training, performance management, scheduling, and assigning daily duties and long-term projects. This position requires adherence to departmental policies, procedures, safety, and service standards, while consistently offering professional, engaging, and friendly service. The role involves working closely with outlet leaders to maintain adequate inventory levels and reporting any damaged or non-working equipment. Periodic inventories are conducted to ensure par stocks and resource availability are maintained, determining usage and identifying purchase or equipment needs. The Chief Steward plays an active role in recruitment, orientation, and training of new employees, fostering an inclusive environment where every individual feels valued and respected. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • 2 years proven leadership and supervisory skills in a Food and Beverage operation
  • Thorough knowledge of the stewarding department
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft 360
  • Full understanding of the health and safety practices in the workplace
  • Availability to flexible shifts including weekends and holidays

Nice To Haves

  • Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management a definite asset
  • Results oriented, organized, highly motivated and able to work under pressure

Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision of all stewarding employees, and supervisors as well as training, performance management, scheduling and assigning of daily duties and long term projects
  • Follow departmental policies, procedures, safety and service standards
  • Consistently offering professional, engaging and friendly service.
  • Ensuring the highest degree of cleanliness and maintenance in accordance with standards, policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with the outlet leaders to maintain adequate levels of china, silver, and glass par stock levels
  • Reports any damaged or not working equipment to maintenance or proper contractor and follows up
  • Conduct periodic inventories to ensure par stocks and resource availability are maintained, determining degree of usage and identifying purchase or equipment requirements.
  • Play an active role in the recruitment, orientation and training of new employees
  • Foster an inclusive environment where every individual feels valued and respected
  • Other duties as assigned
