About The Position

The University of Miami UHealth at SoLé Mia has an exciting opportunity for a Chief, Special Procedures Technologist. The Chief Special Procedures Technologist oversees the performance of procedures through the operation and supervision of radiographic equipment and personnel. The incumbent manages the day-to-day operations and the daily administrative duties ensuring efficient workflow of the section, compliance with budgetary policy, and promotes high level quality care and compliance to state/federal/JC regulations, departmental/hospital policies and procedures, objectives, and philosophy. Directs, coordinates, and oversees the daily activities and operations of Interventional Radiology (IR), to ensure efficient operations, quality and timely results reporting, and superior, consistent customer service. Oversees quality control for all accreditation programs within IR annually. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies such as JC, ACR, and other regulatory agencies as required. Performs full array of IR cases to support the IR technologist team and IR Physicians. Provides On-call coverage as needed to support the department. Provides support to the IR providers performing procedures under the direction/supervision of a Radiologist using age-appropriate standards of practice. Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others in accordance with State of Florida Radiation Protection Statues and Rules & Regulations and University of Miami Radiation Control Policies & Procedures. Orients new personnel to department operations, policies, and procedures. Plans, supervises, and conducts in-service training programs while coaching and counseling personnel on individual work performance. Provides mentoring, promotes idea sharing with direct reports, and supports staff participation in applying the principle/model of continuous improvement to improve existing processes and enhance the effective use of resources (human and material). Maintains ownership of annual reviews with guidance from the IR Director. Conducts monthly IR staff meetings in collaboration with IR Director. Performs monthly audits of IR imaging, evaluating quality of work, dose management, and proper documentation. Manages expenses associated with staff, supply inventory, and equipment maintenance focusing on maximizing efficiencies and cost saving. Aids in the development of capital requests and provides feedback to the Director regarding any staffing and equipment needs. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Requirements

  • Associate degree in relevant field
  • State of Florida General Radiographer License
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certified in Vascular Interventional Radiology
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
