About The Position

OpenLiteracy is dedicated to addressing the critical issue of low reading proficiency among students, particularly those from low-income backgrounds. The organization has developed a 1:1, high-impact tutoring model that connects certified teachers with students in need. This model has shown proven effectiveness, with a recent randomized control trial indicating it's on track for ESSA Tier 1 STRONG evidence. OpenLiteracy is a small, mission-driven team focused on making a significant impact in education.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree
  • At least 5 years of relevant product management experience in education technology or a related field, including K-12 curriculum
  • Demonstrated strategic mindset with the ability to set vision and drive execution
  • Data-driven approach to product decisions and measuring success
  • Experience working in the K-12 education sector
  • Experience managing engineering teams
  • U.S. work authorization

  • Experience taking a curriculum product to market
  • Familiarity with literacy or intervention programs
  • Fluency in state supplementary curriculum adoption markets
  • Advanced degree
  • Classroom teaching experience
  • Familiarity with K-12 tutoring services, ed-tech, or similar fields

  • Understanding of the MTSS landscape from both the buyer and user perspective

Responsibilities

  • Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the product, guiding it from its beta stage to full market readiness.
  • Develop the vision for Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention curriculum.
  • Shape the go-to-market strategy for the curriculum product.
  • Closely track data to understand the tool's impact on teachers and student outcomes.
  • Stay informed about the ed-tech market and competitive landscape to inform product, design, and development decisions.
  • Build go-to-market strategies, conduct cost analysis, and make investment recommendations.
  • Manage the budget to ensure resources are allocated effectively.
  • Partner with curriculum, assessment, and engineering teams to build new features and prioritize development.
  • Design and conduct pilots, user interviews, and focus groups to gather feedback and drive product decisions.
  • Collaborate with designers, the Director of Curriculum, and engineering on human-centered design and product iteration.
  • Act as the product expert, working with marketing, sales, and implementation teams.
  • Support customer conversations, sales meetings, and pilot initiatives.
