About The Position

This role is responsible for managing a team that oversees contractor and supplier Process Safety engineering work from early project development through the project execution phase. The position coordinates engineering scope execution with the functional E&C Engineering team, ensuring compliance with project specifications, SI guidelines and philosophies, and maintaining the technical integrity of Process Safety engineering throughout the project lifecycle. The primary purpose is to work with a diverse group of technical individuals whose skills cover the range required to engineer, operate, and maintain the company’s LNG export liquefaction facilities and receiving terminals.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a 4 year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Typically requires 15 years of related experience.
  • Engineering Design - A series of steps that engineers follow to find a solution to a problem.
  • Troubleshooting - The systematic process of diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, or network issues to restore normal operation.
  • Data Analysis - Measuring and managing organization data, identifying methodological best practices and conducting statistical analyses.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Repair - Any process used to keep a business's equipment in reliable working order, including routine upkeep as well as corrective repair.
  • Engineering Blueprint/Schematics Interpretation - Reading Engineering drawings and understanding the ideas and information that they are intended to communicate.
  • Root Cause Analysis - The process of discovering the root causes of problems in order to identify appropriate solutions.
  • Regulatory Compliance - Ensuring an organization's adherence to laws, regulations, guidelines and specifications relevant to its business processes.
  • Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Management - The systematic approach to maintain health and safety at occupation and protect the environment.
  • Project/Program Management - The process of leading the work of a team to achieve goals and meet success criteria at a specified time.
  • Asset Management - A systematic process of developing, operating, maintaining, upgrading, and disposing of assets in the most cost-effective manner (including all costs, risks and performance attributes).

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to candidates with more than 15 years of process safety engineering/management experience working on North American or international Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) import or export facilities.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate to all parties (partners, peers, management, EPC, suppliers) clearly is critical to performance of the position: ability includes having the presentation development and public speaking skills needed to express technical subject matter to a technical and non-technical audiences and to audiences representing the various levels within the organization.
  • Have a working knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM): Either Occupational Health and Safety Administration’s (OSHA)’s or American Institute Chemical Engineer’s (AIChE) approach to PSM and the elements within the different approaches to identify, assess and manage process safety hazards within a defined management system.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of technical individuals whose skills cover the range required to engineer, operate, and maintain the company’s LNG export liquefaction facilities and receiving terminals (all disciplines including process, instrumentation, and controls, mechanical, electrical, and civil).

Responsibilities

  • Implements engineering solutions that enhance safety and reduce operational risks.
  • Establishes methodologies to enhance system reliability across operations.
  • Leads long-term planning and execution of engineering initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and infrastructure resilience.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Lead risk assessments, hazard identification/evaluation studies, hazard operability studies, consequences analysis, layers of protection analysis and department reviews.
  • Interpret and apply appropriate Codes of Federal Regulation and Standards including but not limited to: 29 CFR Part 1910.119, Process Safety Management of Highly Hazardous Chemicals; 49 CFR Part 193, Liquefied Natural Gas Facilities: Federal Safety Standards; and The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA): NFPA 59A, Standard for the Production, Storage, and Handling of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
  • Review and comment on technical engineering analyses, design bases and philosophies, diagrams, drawings, reports, scopes of work, terms of reference, and white papers, while guiding project teams to identify and integrate safety‑in‑design improvements and ensure alignment with regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Review and provide comments on Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), Management of Change (MOC) submissions and related Process Safety Management (PSM) policies and standards.
