About The Position

KTBC FOX 7 Austin is seeking a dynamic Chief Photographer to lead, inspire, and manage our team of visual storytellers. A minimum of 5 years of experience in small to medium-sized news markets is required. Your resume and reel should reflect a daily focus on compelling storytelling for digital platforms, alongside a proven track record of supervising, mentoring, and directing station photographers to elevate visual standards across the board. The ideal candidate must be highly organized, possess a strong eye for photography and visual storytelling in the news business, and demonstrate a genuine passion for television news. As a leader in the newsroom, you will manage gear inventory and daily field assignments, ensuring the highest technical and creative standards. Successful candidates will enjoy collaborating with others, thrive in a team environment, and love working with people while helping tell impactful stories that serve our audience. Austin experiences year-round high-impact weather events, and as Chief, you will lead field logistics and safety protocols during these events. Newsroom staff must be available to work on-site or in the field when scheduled and be able to travel for out-of-town assignments.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in small to medium-sized news markets.
• Resume and reel should reflect a daily focus on compelling storytelling for digital platforms.
• Proven track record of supervising, mentoring, and directing station photographers.
• Highly organized.
• Strong eye for photography and visual storytelling in the news business.
• Genuine passion for television news.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Position requires walking, standing, and bending.
• Ability to work outside in inclement weather.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs to safely handle standard television news equipment, tripods, and gear.
• Must be available to work on-site or in the field when scheduled.
• Must be able to travel for out-of-town assignments.
