About The Position

The Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO) serves as the enterprise leader responsible for the strategic design, execution, and oversight of all fundraising, philanthropic engagement, and donor development efforts across Care Synergy and its Affiliate organizations, including The Denver Hospice, Colorado Visiting Nurse Association, Colorado PACE, and Pathways. The CPO works closely with the CEO and executive leadership team to ensure that development strategies align with organizational priorities, growth initiatives, and mission advancement. The CPO leads all aspects of donor engagement, major gifts, corporate giving, foundations, planned giving, annual campaigns, special events, stewardship, and grant strategy to achieve revenue goals that support enterprise-wide operations, programs, and strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive leadership experience in fundraising and development, preferably in healthcare or nonprofit organizations.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License and proof of automobile insurance required.

  • MBA or CFRE certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes a comprehensive enterprise-wide philanthropic strategy that supports organizational growth, innovation, and mission advancement.
  • Cultivates strong relationships with donors, board members, community leaders, foundations, corporations, and other strategic partners.
  • Serves as chief fundraiser for the enterprise; actively participates in securing major gifts and cultivating relationships with high-value donors.
  • Leads all donor cultivation, solicitation, recognition, and stewardship activities to ensure a positive donor experience and long-term engagement.
  • Directs the planning and execution of capital campaigns, special initiatives, and legacy giving programs.
  • Manages the donor database platform, ensuring data integrity, analytics, and reporting to support fundraising operations and donor development.
  • Partners closely with the CEO, Affiliate Presidents, and Board leadership to engage philanthropic leadership in enterprise priorities.
  • Develops and manages the enterprise Philanthropy budget; monitors financial performance against revenue targets and forecasts.
  • Ensures compliance with all legal, ethical, and regulatory standards for nonprofit fundraising.
  • Leads and mentors a high-performing Philanthropy team, fostering professional growth, collaboration, accountability, and goal achievement.
  • Represents Care Synergy at key community events, donor meetings, and public engagements to promote awareness, advocacy, and giving.
