About The Position

Raben is a public policy, strategic communications, and organizational consulting firm that champions diversity, equity, and justice. We are seeking a Chief of Staff to support our deliberate growth by aligning strategy, people, culture, and execution. This new role will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team and a strategic partner to the President, focusing on internal leadership and development to allow the President to concentrate on external vision, relationships, and impact. The Chief of Staff will be responsible for making leaders more effective, systems stronger, and culture more durable as the firm scales. This position is located in our DC office and follows a hybrid schedule with at least two days per week in office.

Requirements

  • Strong emotional intelligence and political acumen.
  • Ability to move fluidly between strategy, people leadership, skilled facilitation, and operational discipline.
  • Systems thinker who understands the interconnection of culture, leadership, operations, and strategy.
  • Equity-centered practitioner who can translate values into policies, behaviors, and decisions.
  • Experience navigating complexity at personal, interpersonal, organizational, and systemic levels.
  • Backgrounds may include Chief of Staff, Chief Equity Officer, organizational development, people & culture, strategy and operations, internal consulting or transformation, executive coaching, or senior leadership in mission-driven organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership for organizational culture, including equity-centered practice, transformation, leadership development, staff well-being, and accountability practices.
  • Enhance Senior Leadership Team effectiveness by facilitating decision-making, clarifying roles, strengthening collaboration, and helping leaders navigate complexity and conflict.
  • Lead firmwide strategic planning, translate it into measurable priorities, and drive cross-functional initiatives from idea to outcome while removing barriers.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the President, anticipating risks and opportunities, and ensuring follow-through on key priorities.
