Chief of Staff

Pepr AISan Francisco, CA
$125,000 - $175,000Onsite

About The Position

Pepr AI is building the AI Operator for growth to replace the traditional ad agency. They apply the quantitative rigor of high-frequency trading to digital ad spend, delivering 20–50% upside in spend efficiency for their customers. They already manage spend for global category leaders like Cider and Cupshe, with a clear path to managing billions of dollars across Google, Meta and TikTok. They are backed by Quiet Capital and are building their team in San Francisco. This is a hands-on role across customers, product, internal execution and go-to-market. The Chief of Staff will work closely with the founders, customers and engineering team. This role will take on work that today sits with the founders: running customer engagements, turning customer needs into product work, helping the team execute and supporting the sales process. The ideal candidate is comfortable with ambiguity but does not stay abstract for long. They should be able to understand a messy problem, decide what matters and then do the work required to get to a result. A builder's instinct is also important, knowing when to do the work directly and when a better process, automation or lightweight tool can improve outcomes.

Requirements

  • Roughly 4–8 years of experience.
  • Strong operator who can think strategically. Can structure difficult problems, make decisions, keep several important threads moving at once and drive them to completion. Cares about getting to the result, not just making the recommendation.
  • Communicates clearly. Can make sense of a messy problem, build a strong deck or written deliverable and communicate thinking credibly to a senior customer.
  • Analytical. Comfortable working directly with data and drawing own conclusions.
  • Can get technically deep enough to be useful. Understands performance marketing, attribution, data and how Pepr's product works well enough to work effectively with the engineers building it.
  • Builds when it helps. Comfortable using AI, automation or lightweight tooling to solve a problem, but does not over-engineer work that can simply be done.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with enterprise customers.
  • Experience at an early-stage startup.
  • Experience shipping products or working closely with engineering.
  • Comfort working directly with data; SQL is a plus.
  • Experience with performance marketing, adtech, attribution or Google / Meta / TikTok ads.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Customer Engagements: Own the day-to-day work behind customer relationships. Run recurring meetings, build proposals, prepare quantitative performance readouts and progress reports, and drive follow-ups to completion. Develop a strong understanding of each customer's growth business and become a trusted partner to their team.
  • Translate Customer Needs Into Product: Identify customer pain points and recurring opportunities, decide how to address them, and work closely with engineers to turn them into clear requirements, lightweight PRDs, mocks and shipped improvements.
  • Help the Team Execute: Keep the operating cadence lightweight and effective. Track core company KPIs, support sprint planning and project tracking, and help resolve blockers. Where useful, improve the process or introduce automation or internal tools to keep work moving.
  • Support Go-To-Market: Help make founder-led sales more effective. Build sales collateral and prospect materials, support pipeline follow-through, and run targeted outbound or other GTM experiments where useful.

Benefits

  • Meaningful early-team equity
  • Daily lunch and optional dinner provided in-office
  • Support for candidates moving to the Bay Area
  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision and unlimited PTO
