About The Position

The Engineering, Enablement, and Operations (EEO) organization enables Microsoft’s commercial business to better serve every person and organization’s transformation and economic success. We design, build, and manage the levers that accelerate commercial growth and shorten the cycle between customer signal and delivery. We are looking for a Chief of Staff to serve as a trusted advisor and force multiplier for the Chief Technology & AI Officer (CTO), Enterprise Platforms. As Microsoft reimagines engineering enablement and operational excellence in the era of AI, this role drives strategy initiatives and the rhythm of business (ROB), creating clarity in ambiguous situations to drive prioritization and decision making for leaders across the organization. You will lead strategy execution in partnership with the leadership team, design and steward complex budgets, champion organizational health, and drive cross-team projects that meet a fast-changing business environment. This role has potential to evolve into a people leadership role as the function scales.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 8+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources or business-related roles OR equivalent experience
  • 5+ years people management experience.
  • Experience partnering with engineering or technical leadership and fluency with AI and its application to business operations.
  • Experience driving and landing change.
  • Stakeholder management experience.
  • Experience with cross-group collaboration and coordination at multiple levels of the company.
  • Experience with relationship management including ability to rapidly build trust and confidence of stakeholders, as well as influence business decisions across boundaries, at all levels of the organization, and often in ambiguous situations.
  • Business maturity and experience working with senior leaders, with the ability to work independently.
  • Executive presence with written and verbal communication skills.
  • Global program orchestration and execution skills, with ability to manage and deliver multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with creating order out of chaos and clarity out of confusion.
  • Experience learning and synthesizing complex topics and needs.
  • Experience delivering messages diplomatically and quickly drive toward solutions to problems.
  • Experience designing and balancing strategic priorities against operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Embody leadership principles: Model integrity, accountability, inclusion, and a growth mindset. Coach and empower others through feedback, knowledge sharing, mentoring, and support. Care by creating an environment where employees feel valued, respected, and supported, prioritizing well-being and encouraging diverse perspectives.
  • Drive cross-team projects to manage business needs, leading program management for organization-wide strategic efforts requiring hands-on coordination across multiple disciplines. Lead initiatives and projects on behalf of the Chief Technology & AI Officer and the Engineering leadership team, advancing both goal clarity and project execution. Communicate discoveries, progress, and results from initiatives to management and the broader organization. Lead strategic innovation and experimentation.
  • Serve as a thought leader and trusted advisor to the Chief Technology & AI Officer, synthesizing insights and data-driven recommendations across all facets of the Engineering org's operation to influence the leader, leadership team, and organization. Act as a proxy for the leader and serve as a highly accessible Engineering information source for other major functions, build and cultivate senior relationships at scale, drive the leadership team’s agenda and follow-up, and optimize the use of the leader’s time. Lead executive-level communications, developing messaging on mission, strategy, and vision, and performing triage and ghostwriting on the leader’s behalf.
  • Drive the architecture and execution of the Rhythm of Business (ROB) and business-review cadence aligned to the scope of the business — building agendas, capturing key insights, and tracking action items to completion. Coordinate continuous planning across Engineering in collaboration with key stakeholders and lead strategy execution across stakeholders, ensuring alignment to priorities and scorecard needs. Partner with Finance to design and steward complex budgets and long-term forecasts, advise on headcount and resource planning, and drive privacy, compliance, and corporate-governance accountability. As appropriate, execute business plans with program managers to ensure business continuity in all conditions.
  • Ensure a healthy scorecard for the organization and champion culture and inclusion initiatives aligned to the defined People Strategy and One Microsoft D&I guidance. Research, document, and offer recommendations to keep the Engineering organization on a path of continuous improvement. Partner with Human Resources (HR) and the business management community to act on employee signals, accelerate culture progress, and drive training and compliance completion.
  • Drive internal and external communications — shaping the organizational narrative, executive messaging, and high-visibility moments (all-hands, leadership updates). Support the CTO's customer and partner touchpoints — briefing materials, engagement prep, and follow-through.
