About The Position

The Chief of Staff will plan and direct all administrative and operational activities for the organization's Commissioner/CEO. The Chief of staff will work with the Commissioner/CEO to define and execute the agency's strategic vision, goals, and priorities. Acts as a point of contact between top management and employees or other stakeholders. Provide oversight and guidance to high-priority or cross-functional projects. Demonstrate expertise in national, state, and local trends in housing, community development, and economic policy, and other relevant agency functions. This position is with HCR's Housing Trust Fund Corporation (HTFC). This is not a civil service position and does not require a civil service exam. Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications outlined below to be considered. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Substitutions: four years of specialized experience or associate degree and two years of specialized experience may substitute for bachelor’s degree; J.D. or master’s degree may substitute for one year of specialized experience; Ph.D. may substitute for two years of specialized experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the CEO in facilitating effective decision-making
  • Coordinate the execution of strategic initiatives
  • Participate in regular meetings with the senior leadership team
  • Assess inquiries directed to the CEO, determine the proper course of action and delegate to the appropriate individual to manage
  • Oversee the agency’s Public Information Office and internal and external communication strategy
  • Oversee the agency’s Intergovernmental Affairs team
  • Tackle and resolve complex operational, programmatic, or interdepartmental issues that require high-level intervention
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including elected officials, community leaders, non-profit organizations, developers, and federal/state/local government agencies
  • Attend meetings and represent the agency head when necessary
