The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high quality drinking water, managing wastewater and stormwater, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country, with nearly 6,000 employees. DEP's water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the system’s 2,000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the City. The Bureau of Water Supply seeks to hire an Administrative Staff Analyst, M-2 for a position within the Executive Division, located in Grahamsville, New York. Under executive direction, of the Deputy Commissioner of the Bureau of Water Supply, the Administrative Staff Analyst, M-2 will serve as Bureau of Water Supply Chief of Staff. The Bureau of Water Supply Chief of Staff will be responsible for working closely with the Bureau’s Directorates to address, coordinate and direct critical issues affecting the Bureau; establishing lines of communication to ensure timely resolution; assisting in the development of strategic goals and plans for the Bureau in order to enhance operational performance and developing procedures and systems to improve efficiency within the Bureau; serve as liaison with the Commissioner’s Office and other Department of Environmental Protection Bureaus as well as liaison with the public and elected officials. Specific duties include: - Ensuring the Deputy Commissioner is prepared for all daily activities including meetings, events, and trips. Ensuring all relevant documents are printed and reviewed ahead of scheduled events; planning sessions are scheduled ahead of time to prepare for all scheduled events and that all communication devices are fully operational. - Ensuring will be responsible for working closely with the Bureau’s Directorates to address, coordinate and direct critical issues affecting the Bureau; establishing lines of communication to ensure timely resolution; assisting in the development of strategic goals and plans for the Bureau in order to enhance operational performance and developing procedures and systems to improve efficiency within the Bureau; serve as liaison with the Commissioner’s Office and other Department of Environmental Protection Bureaus as well as liaison with the public and elected officials. - Working closely with the Commissioner's Office and the Bureau Strategic Planning Section to develop long-term plans and goals for the Bureau and day to day operations. Coordinating strategic plans/goals for the Bureau; effectively communicates information to the office in accordance with requirements; ensuring activity planning is conducted for all upcoming tasks; recommending initiatives and conducting conference planning; working on all Bureau special projects; managing the bureau Electric Vehicle Initiative, Cellphone Tower Initiative, BWS Tributary, and ACE Awards. This position will also require you to report to other Bureau of Water Supply facilities throughout the watershed.
