About The Position

This supervisory position requires direct support and supervision of clinical support staff for an occupational health clinic, reporting to the Manager of Occupational Health and Audiology. The Chief of Medical manages the daily operations of the clinic, reviews policies and procedures in collaboration with the medical leadership team, and provides ongoing training to clinical support staff. This role also manages the clinic's staffing schedule, ensures compliance with medical records and privacy standards, and is responsible for orienting and training new staff members. The position involves liaising with various departments and external resources, managing medical and emergency protocols, and overseeing program management for OSHA Medical Surveillance, Marine Evaluations, Travel, and Off-Site Monitoring. The role requires flexibility in scheduling to meet clinic operational needs, including staggered start and end times to interact with all staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with a medical adjacent background
  • Certification by the applicable professional organization
  • Experience with an electronic medical record
  • Minimum of 5 years in a medical setting
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Ability to work all shifts and extended hours as needed
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • Ability to work well with a variety of people
  • Ability to prioritize and solve problems
  • Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity to chronic medical and social problems
  • Ability to relate well to co-workers, management, and employees
  • Ability to set realistic, measurable goals
  • Utilization of available community resources where applicable
  • Ability to develop and provide individualized and group counseling, guidance, and health instruction with a focus on disease prevention and health maintenance

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, medical assisting, or a graduate of an accredited program for nurse practitioners, including preceptorship OR a graduate from a physician assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations of the clinic
  • Manage clinic support staff and complete performance reviews
