About The Position
Sentara Health, a nationally recognized integrated healthcare system, is seeking a dynamic, visionary, and experienced gastroenterologist to serve as the Chief of Gastroenterology. This is a transformational leadership opportunity for a mid-career physician with experience running a fellowship and operational experience. The role involves providing strategic direction for the growth and innovation of GI services across the Sentara network, spearheading the development of a new Gastroenterology Fellowship Program, and mentoring early-career physicians. The Chief will also focus on elevating patient care, expanding service offerings, leading the expansion and optimization of the outpatient GI division, and collaborating with system leadership, academic partners, and multidisciplinary teams.
Requirements
- Dynamic, visionary, and experienced gastroenterologist.
- Mid-career physician.
- Experience running a fellowship.
- Operational experience.
- Hepatology preferred but not required.
- Preferably inpatient and outpatient capacity.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction for the growth and innovation of GI services across the Sentara network.
- Spearhead the development of a new Gastroenterology Fellowship Program.
- Serve as a mentor to early-career physicians, nurturing leadership potential and promoting a culture of academic excellence.
- Utilize expertise to elevate patient care and expand service offerings.
- Lead the expansion and optimization of the outpatient GI division, improving access, efficiency, and patient experience across ambulatory care settings.
- Work alongside system leadership, academic partners, and multidisciplinary teams to align GI services with Sentara’s mission.
