About The Position

This position is for a Chief Nursing Officer whose responsibility is to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of nursing services, in accordance with accreditation standards, federal, state and local regulations, organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Oversees clinical areas of Pharmacy, Cardiopulmonary, Laboratory, Perinatal Services, Medical Surgical Services, Surgical Services, Rehabilitation, Utilization Management, RN, House Supervisor, and Nutritional Services. This position is delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out all essential position responsibilities. He/she communicates with medical staff, other departments, and outside agencies while maintaining confidentiality. This position requires self-motivation, creativity, and capabilities of functioning in a semi-autonomous role within a fast pace and dynamic environment. The position is responsible for the supervision professional and skilled personnel. The position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

Requirements

  • Unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Georgia.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Demonstrate effective nursing leadership competencies.
  • Extensive progressive nursing leadership experience.
  • Demonstrate competence in nursing administration, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, patient safety, and strategic operations.
  • Seven (7) years of progressive responsible nursing leadership experience in an acute care hospital.
  • Five (5) years in a senior nursing leadership role (e.g., Director, Administrative Director, Assistant CNO, House Supervisor, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrate experience in Nursing operations and administration.
  • Demonstrate experience in CMS Conditions of Participation and DNV accreditation standards.
  • Demonstrate experience in Regulatory survey readiness and corrective action planning.
  • Demonstrate experience in Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI), Patient safety and risk management.
  • Demonstrate experience in Infection Prevention and control.
  • Demonstrate experience in Nursing staff, competency assessment, and workforce development.
  • Demonstrate experience in Budget development and fiscal management.
  • Demonstrate experience in Medical Staff collaboration and interdisciplinary leadership.
  • Demonstrate experience in Emergency Preparedness and incident command.
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice professional nursing in the state of Georgia.
  • BLS Provider and ACLS provider certification required.
  • Advanced management skills with experience in planning, organizing, implementing, facilitating, interviewing, counseling, and verbal and written communications.
  • Advanced knowledge of nursing model/theory application.
  • Advanced knowledge of nursing and medical practices, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that impact healthcare.
  • Advanced knowledge of planning, organizing, developing, implementing, and interpreting programs, goals, and objectives that are necessary for providing quality care.
  • Advanced knowledge of accreditation regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Intermediate computer skills with word processing and spreadsheet capabilities preferred.
  • If a candidate demonstrates equivalent experience in comparable positions, it is preferred for the individual to actively be pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Master of Health Administration (MHA) or Master of Business Administration (MBA).
