About The Position

United Surgical Partners International (USPI) is seeking a Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) for Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale in Sunnyvale, TX. This facility is a 125,000 square foot hospital accredited by The Joint Commission, serving the community since 2009. It has an average daily census of 61, an average length of stay of 4.66 days, and admits 4,500 patients annually. The hospital has 70 inpatient beds, including ICU, Cardiac Step-down, and Medical/Surgical beds. It features 7 ORs and 2 PRs, performing 400 surgical cases monthly across various specialties. The hospital employs approximately 460 staff (370 FTEs) with a medical staff of 325 physicians. The Emergency Department treats nearly 40,000 patients annually with 20 beds and holds Primary Stroke and Chest Pain accreditation. The hospital is pursuing Joint Center of Excellence, Robotics Center of Excellence, and Spine Center of Excellence designations. Significant capital projects totaling $12 million have been completed in the last four years. The CNO provides executive leadership for all nursing and clinical services, ensuring high-quality, safe, and patient-centered care. This role is responsible for clinical excellence, staffing strategy, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the CNO partners with physicians, administrators, and the governing board to advance the hospital’s mission, strategic goals, and operational performance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for all nursing and clinical departments
  • Ensure safe, effective, and compliant patient care through evidence-based nursing practice
  • Develop and manage nursing staffing models, budgets, and resource allocation
  • Lead quality, patient safety, and performance improvement initiatives
  • Partner with physicians, executive leadership, and the governing board on strategy and operations
  • Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and standards of nursing practice
  • Oversee talent development, performance management, and employee engagement
  • Integrate current research and best practices into nursing care delivery
  • Represent nursing services in medical staff, executive, and board meetings
